Angel Hernandez greeted listeners and encouraged them to help support Rady Children's Hospital at IHOP in Chula Vista

La Mejor 99.3 and Exa 91.7 teamed up with Rady Children’s Hospital to support and promote their local fundraising efforts in the Hispanic community. Throughout December 2009 and January 2010, Exa 91.7 participated as one of the media sponsors for Rady Children’s Fantasy, an ice skating campaign helping to raise money for Rady Children’s Hospital. The event was held at the ice rink at Horton Plaza and presented by Sycuan benefiting the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego.

In February, the two stations collaborated on International Pancake Day with IHOP, inviting listeners to enjoy a delicious breakfast at the company’s Chula Vista restaurant. IHOP donated the pancakes and all proceeds from additional purchases were directed to Rady Children’s Hospital.

Exa 91.7 and La Mejor 99.3 has once again collaborated with the American Red Cross to find blood donors in the Hispanic community. Their promotions teams traveled to various locations around San Diego County to support the local blood drives and encourage listeners to participate in the campaign “Fronteras Unidas por la Vida”. Exa 91.7 and La Mejor 99.3 made it a fun environment for the listeners, playing music and making frequent live calls from the locations, but most importantly, they helped spread the word about the important role that the American Red Cross plays in the community.

MVS Communications stations, La Mejor and Exa, are the two most recent members of the San Diego Radio Broadcasters Association.  XHOCL-FM (99.3) La Mejor provides listeners with a variety of banda, ranchero and romantic music. XHGLX-FM (91.7) or Exa FM is a Spanish and English Top 40 station geared towards teenagers and young adults.
