Terry King,  GSM of Channel 933, adds managing Group Sales for Clear Channel Radio San Diego to his responsibilites. 

Tina Bowles was promoted from National Sales Coordinator to National Sales Manager of Clear Channel San Diego.

Stephanie Karabatos returned to the West Coast,  joining the ROCK 105.3 sales team after spending the last 15 years in New York selling National – first as an Account Executive with Eastman Radio, and then the last several years with Clear Channel Radio as VP Sales.

Michael McNamara  joins the Channel 933 family as an Account Executive.  Michael was a key account coordinator with Aflac for 3 years before deciding to switch gears last September and enter the world of radio. 

Channel 933 also welcomes Account Executive Steve Poore who is returning to San Diego after a seven year radio stint in L.A

Suzy Zimmermann joins the Clear Channel cluster as the Online Assistant. She comes from Clear Channel Los Angeles, where she worked in various positions for the past five years. Suzy started at KFI AM 640 after college and has stayed with Clear Channel ever since.

Sally Sexton joins Clear Channel Radio as Key Account Coordinator. A long time San Diegan; Sally joins Clear Channel with 35 years of radio, television and ad agency experience.

Zoe Elmore recently re-located to San Diego from New York where she was previously employed as a sales assistant at Woman’s Day magazine. The Clear Channel team has welcomed her as a key account coordinator.

Tarol Warschauer has come aboard the Clear Channel team as a key account coordinator. 

Clear Channel bids a sad farewell to radio veteran Mira Simon, who is starting her own business as an executive and life coach. Mira began her career in radio in Los Angeles in 1985.  She worked in San Diego radio for 12 years, primarily as a national sales manager for CBS Radio, BCA and most recently Clear Channel, where she spent 4 1/2 years. Mira will be sorely missed!

Michelle Wakeland joins LMA as an Account Executive.

Joining LMA as sales assistant is Marie Oasin.

Steve Sklenar

Steve Sklenar is the new director of sales of Lincoln Financial Media’s San Diego radio cluster and will serve as an assistant vice-president for LFM. Sklenar rejoins Rick Jackson, senior vice-presient/general manager of LFM/San Diego, who also made the move back to LFM. In his new role, Sklenar will oversee sales operations of KBZT-FM, KIFM-FM, KSON-FM, and KSOQ-FM San Diego.

Miguel Monir Fernandez takes over as general manager of the Imagen Group, Inc./Radio Latina. In his new position, Fernandez will direct sales in the United States and coordinate sales in Tijuana. He also will serve as principal liaison between departments and overlook operations of the station’s daily activities.

Haley Jones

KPRI welcomed Haley Jones as the new the program director of the station on February 1st. She most recently worked in Los Angeles at 100.3 The Sound, where she served as assistant program director and music director.

Also joining KPRI is Kelli Jodoin as sales assistant.

Local Media of America (LMA) acquired San Diego based Finest City Broadcasting, operator of three Radio stations serving the San Diego market in January. LMA is an affiliate of private equity firm Thoma Bravo LLC; the transaction was completed in partnership with The Broadcast Company of the Americas (BCA), which operates three other stations in the market.

 LMA will be led by CEO John Lynch, who also is the CEO of BCA.  The six San Diego-area radio stations owned by the two companies will be operated as a group under Lynch’s direction. The Finest City Broadcasting stations include: Magic 92.5, XHRM FM, Z-90 XHTZ FM, and 91X XETRA FM. BCA operates: XX Sports Radio XEPRS AM, the Walrus XHPRS FM, and San Diego 1700 XEPE AM.

Rick Jackson

Rick Jackson takes over as Senior Vice President/General Manager of Lincoln Financial Media’s (LFM) San Diego radio cluster this month, overseeing operations of San Diego’s KBZT-FM, KIFM-FM, KSON-FM, and its simulcast on KSOQ-FM.

Jackson’s radio career spans 35 years and includes programming and on-air positions.  He also served as the host of the nationally syndicated Rick Jackson’s Country Hall of Fame weekend radio show.  Jackson most recently worked as Senior Vice President/General Manager of Charlotte’s WBT-AM/FM and WLNK-FM, stations previously owned by LFM.

“It’s great to have Rick back in our company,” said Don Benson, LFM President and CEO.  “He’s a terrific leader who is deeply experienced with a strong background in both programming and sales.

More than 370 supporters attended the 36th Annual Excellence in Journalism Awards on October 20th at the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.  They enjoyed tastings from 22 stellar restaurants, wines from Temecula Valley, beer from Karl Strauss and Tika Water.

New 933 Morning Show Johnjay and Rich

Channel 933 KHTS-FM is the new home for morning talent Johnjay & Rich.  The duo introduced their unique brand of humor to their San Diego audience on October 19, 2009.

“We are thrilled to bring the Johnjay & Rich show to mornings at Channel 933,” says Debbie Wagner, Market Manager of Clear Channel Radio-San Diego.  “This talented broadcasting team will have listeners tuning in to get their daily dose of laughter and entertainment.  We believe our San Diego listeners will agree that Johnjay & Rich are the real deal, and will be as excited about them as we are.”

Johnjay began his Radio career at San Diego State University with a part time shift on KCR and is thrilled to return to the airwaves in San Diego.

The Johnjay & Rich show, which is a live regional radio show broadcast, includes features like Second Date Update, Confession Wednesday, and The Good, the Bad and the Gossip.  Additionally, top names in show business appear on-air regularly to get in on the act.
